The MTA has provided our Northern Territory pre-budget submission to the Territory Government.
As a key document in our advocacy efforts which is informed by our members, the submission sets the priorities needed to support the automotive industry and grow our economy.
It follows strong engagement from CEO Darrell Jacobs where he has met with members of parliament to strengthen our sector and raise your priorities. As a membership-based organisation, the MTA is ultimately committed to ensuring you can do what you do best – running your business.
Our recommendations in the submission cover a wide range of areas, including:
- Addressing skill shortages through school engagement, apprenticeships and skilled migration
- Industry support as the Northern Territory transitions to zero and low emission vehicles
- Alleviating crime and business security funding assistance; and
- Lower taxes and improved government services for businesses
The budget submission process involves the government receiving and reviewing respective policy requests.
We will campaign for these priorities on your behalf as we continue to engage with Territory Government Ministers. The Government will hand down its budget in mid-June and we will keep you updated.
The MTA has developed a strong working relationship with the government, opposition and crossbench members. We will utilise this to our benefit in advocating for our industry.
